Our director, John Sweet Lapus, invites you to watch D’ Emperor!

Ready for the biggest fashion extravaganza of the year?

For it 35th year, Teatro Tomasino, the official university wide theatre guild ofThe The University Santo Tomasproudly presents to you its first major production for this theatrical season -D’ EMPEROR!

Written by five time Palanca award winner, George De JesusD’ Emperoris a modern comedic satirical adaptation of The Hans Christian Andersen classic -The Emperor’s NewClothes. It follows the tale’s storyline of twofauxdesigners hired by the emperor to make the most fabulous piece of garment the world has ever seen. In which the conniving two, were able to dupe nearly the whole kingdom into believing that they were making one out of a special fabric that can only be seen by the smartest and capable of men; when in truth they weren’t really making one at all. The truth was later revealed when a child from the sea of stunned and adoring crowd pointed out that the emperor  was indeed naked.

Despite its fashioncentrism, the play is actually more apolitical in nature, making it more of a social critique, rather than mere comedic repose. De Jesus’s employment of smart and witty one liners, and nefariously profound and kilometric, near monologue-like lines, are simply revelatory. His cool mix of modern slang, fashion names, brands and other technicalities; further empowered by his superb command of words, are all bound to leave audiences breathless from awe and laughter.

Directed by“The Universal Sweet”John Lapus, the play will be held at the Albertus Magnus Auditorium this coming November 27, 28 and 29. Time slots are indicated below:
